Study of the National Branch Union of Cooperatives in the Cattle Sector (UNCST-BOVICOOP)

This material presents the work of UNCST-BOVICOOP (the National Union of Cooperatives in the Cattle Sector), the organisation that brings together cattle-farming cooperatives in Romania. It shows how the union supports small farmers, represents their interests in relations with the authorities, and encourages cooperation among members. It also presents Naturlact, a shared brand of the union’s members through which local products are promoted and sold, and the organisation’s efforts to support responsible meat and milk production in Romania.

The material was prepared by the Civitas Foundation for Civil Society Cluj (the lead of the consortium of organisations that started and support the CoopNet network), in order to encourage national branch unions to continue and to contribute to a better organised agricultural cooperative sector in Romania.
